HIRING TIPS

We aim to ensure a smooth, respectful, and insightful hiring process.  Here are some key tips to help you succeed when applying for a position at Haworth Lifestyle:

1

Prepare in Advance

  • Study our company and values to align yourself with our culture.

  • Submit an up-to-date CV that highlights your most relevant experience.

2

Set the Scene for Success

  • Double-check the interview time, location, and the names of those attending.

  • Ensure a quiet environment with a stable internet connection for online interviews.

3

Ask Thoughtful Questions

  • Prepare thoughtful questions about key topics, such as company culture, team dynamics, growth potential, and learning opportunities.

  • While it’s helpful to prepare for common interview questions, remain flexible and ready to respond naturally

  • If the interview process timeline isn’t shared, don’t hesitate to ask about the next steps.

  • If you don’t move forward, asking for structured feedback can provide valuable insights into areas for development.

4

Handle Challenges Confidently

  • Reframe negative experiences as opportunities for growth and demonstrate your ability to overcome challenges.

  • Remember, interview questions must respect legal and ethical standards. Any questions on sensitive topics (e.g., gender, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy, ethnicity) are not allowed. If asked, feel free to politely point this out. At Haworth Lifestyle, we are committed to upholding these standards.

  • Keep in mind that interviews are professional conversations designed to assess mutual fit, not tests to pass or fail.

5

Be authentic

  • Stay true to yourself and explain clearly why you’re motivated by the role and what specifically draws you to our company.

  • Come prepared with examples from your experience to back up your statements (e.g., if you claim to be a strong team player, share relevant examples).

  • Be honest about your skills and experience. For example, if you’re not fluent in English, it’s better to be clear about your current level.

  • Actively listen and take notes where needed to help you process the conversation.

6

Close strong

  • Finish by showcasing how your skills can contribute to the team and leave a strong impression.

MATCHING

In addition to the hiring tips, here are some strategies to help you prepare mentally and emotionally for a successful interview:

1

Mental Preparation
& Emotional State

  • Positive Anchoring: Before the interview, recall a moment when you felt confident and competent. Use a specific gesture (e.g., pinching your thumb and index finger) to link this feeling and trigger it during the interview.

  • Visualization of Success: Imagine yourself entering the room confidently, responding well to questions, and leaving with an offer. This will mentally prepare you for success.

2

Building Connection
with the Interviewer

  • Mirroring & Matching: Subtly reflect the interviewer’s body language, tone, and pace. This creates a natural connection, building rappor and trust.

  • Using the Interviewer’s Keywords: Incorporate the language and keywords the interviewer uses (e.g., “teamwork,” “leadership”) to demonstrate alignment and engagement.

3

Effective & Structured Communication

  • Three-Step Approach: When responding to questions, use the structure: situation – action – result (e.g., “In this situation, I did X, and as a result, I achieved Y”).

  • Avoid Negative Phrasing: Instead of saying “I don’t have experience in…,” say “I’m rapidly gaining expertise in this area thanks to…”.

  • Storytelling: Share brief, relevant stories to make your answers memorable.

4

Handling Challenging Questions

  • Reframing: If you’re asked about a lack of experience in a certain area, reframe
it positively: “My background gives me a unique perspective that can contribute
    to fresh solutions.”

  • Turning Setbacks into Growth: If asked about failure, focus on what you learned
from the experience and how it helped you grow.

5

Closing Strong

  • Final Statement: End with a powerful statement that reinforces your strengths and leaves a lasting impression (e.g., “I’m excited about the opportunity
to contribute my skills in X and my experience in Y to this role”).
